Agility Robotics is working with Nyobolt on a fast-recharge battery system for its Digit 5 humanoid robot. The partnership aims to solve critical uptime challenges in manufacturing and warehouse automation. Digit 5’s new battery system delivers 90 minutes of runtime and charges in nine minutes. This creates a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio, a major improvement from the Digit 4 model's 2:1 ratio. The technology will allow the robot to work more than 20 hours in a day, covering more than two full shifts.

Agility described Digit 5 as its first humanoid robot designed to work in close proximity to people safely and at scale. The company also calls Digit the first multi-purpose, human-centric robot that is 'Made for Work' and commercially deployed today. For operations leaders, the extended runtime directly addresses a core constraint. Daniel Diez of Agility Robotics emphasized this, stating: "For our customers, Digit’s uptime is the business case."

Nyobolt’s technology selected for demanding industrial environments

Nyobolt’s fast-charging, high-power-density battery technology was chosen for Digit 5 due to its ability to deliver more power from a smaller, lighter pack. Agility set an exceptionally high bar for what a battery has to withstand in live warehouse and manufacturing environments. Sai Shivareddy of Nyobolt explained the selection, saying: "Nyobolt’s technology was chosen because Digit 5 will need more power from a smaller, lighter pack in environments where reliability isn’t optional."

The battery system addresses downtime as a key constraint on robot utilization. Nyobolt's technology combines fast charging, exceptional cycle life, and reduced system weight. It is built for demanding industrial conditions where reliability is critical. The company, founded in 2019, is a pioneer of high-power, ultra-fast charging solutions. Its mission is to deliver mission-critical uptime for power-demanding industries like AI datacenters, Physical AI applications including robotics, and mobility. Agility said this battery performance, combined with its experience with commercial deployments, will strengthen Digit’s value proposition for warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing operations.

Deployment timeline for manufacturing operators

Agility Robotics expects early access to Digit 5 equipped with Nyobolt’s battery technology to begin in the first half of 2027. Increasing availability of Digit 5 is expected over the following six to nine months after early access for manufacturing, warehouse and distribution operators. This timeline targets the scaling of humanoid robots toward broader commercial deployment in industrial settings.

The collaboration is part of a larger corporate move for Agility Robotics. The company plans to go public via a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI. The business combination is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the combined company trading under the ticker symbol AGLT.
