Vermeer Credits Tax Law for $44 Million Factory Expansion
Vermeer Corporation's CEO credits tax incentives for R&D and equipment for the decision to build a larger Iowa factory, creating up to 200 jobs.

Vermeer Corporation's CEO credits tax incentives for the decision to build a larger Iowa factory. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA) toured Vermeer Corporation's headquarters in Pella, Iowa, on August 12. The visit, hosted by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), highlighted how recent tax law is influencing factory investment decisions.
Vermeer President and CEO Jason Andringa told reporters that the tax law, known as H.R. 1, has been beneficial for the company. He specifically cited provisions that encourage research and development, equipment expensing, and factory construction. These provisions contributed to Vermeer's decision to build a new manufacturing facility in Bondurant, Iowa.
New Factory and Distribution Center
The new Bondurant factory will replace Vermeer's current rented operation in Des Moines. The new site will be roughly three times as large. Vermeer plans to create an additional 150 to 200 jobs there.
During the tour, officials also saw Vermeer's new global parts distribution center. This facility represents a capital investment of roughly $44 million. It created about 100 jobs and is expected to triple the company's parts throughput. The NAM and company leadership present this as a concrete example of reinvestment tied to the tax law's investment provisions.
Manufacturer Growth and Policy Impact
Andringa said Vermeer is experiencing double-digit growth. He attributed this largely to its industrial equipment business, which serves infrastructure installation and organic waste processing markets.
Following the event, Secretary Bessent posted on social media platform X about the visit. He said it was great to join Rep. Miller-Meeks and the NAM at the Vermeer Corporation facility in Pella, Iowa, to hear directly from farmers and manufacturers how pro-growth policies are translating into investment and opportunity across America’s heartland.
Representative Miller-Meeks also posted on X. She stated that they heard directly from Vermeer’s workforce about how the Working Families Tax Cuts are helping expand American manufacturing and create good-paying jobs right here at home. The White House's rapid response account highlighted the event as well.
Tax Law Provisions in Focus
At a roundtable with other Iowa manufacturers, Secretary Bessent said participants highlighted the tax law's permanent full-expensing provision. This rule allows businesses to immediately deduct the cost of qualifying equipment. The NAM has published a flipbook titled "Manufacturing Tax Wins Across America," featuring 50 success stories it links to the permanent pro-growth tax provisions in H.R. 1.
